Alternative to bottom bar

It feels a bit odd to have two stacked navigation menus at the bottom of the screen, especially since I don't really plan to use the subscriptions or maps features. There are a million ways one could set up the UI here, but personally I would consider shifting the options at the very bottom into a hamburger menu at the top that would either pop out those options (leaving timeline/hourly/daily). Depending on how this is handled, it has the benefit of getting some vertical real estate back for the actual weather content, which feels like it would be a win! (I think there's actually a chance this is how the app previously worked?)

The current structure encourages – and assumes – subscriptions and/or maps are features *most* users will want quick access to. So I’m totally on board with the principle that users should be able to dictate their preferences here, potentially increasing screen estate for your forecast. I have some ideas how to accomplish your goals (and to possibly go further even). I’ll share more shortly. In general, there have been a few comments on the app not feeling as “minimal” as before and I think for these users – to be clear in the minority – this will go a long way as I don’t think the screens themselves are more heavy feeling than before but that there’s simply more app UI.

100% - I do see the reason for exposing these features of the app, though I do think the "double bar" feels a bit "off" from a UI perspective. I just noticed that holding my phone in landscape mode actually creates a sidebar of some of those elements, so it's kinda halfway to what I'm envisioning already! But either way, definitely interested to see what you cook up :) I don't think the app has gotten less minimal in a negative way, either, for what it's worth - separate conversation from this ticket (already filed), but I think an option to bring back the serif font and making the "conversational" font size a bit larger would recapture a lot of what that group may be pining for
