Widgets on Pixel Pro 11 Android 17
Trying to add a widget to the home page and it just sits there with the "getting widget ready" message.I've tried killing the app and restarting, rebooting the phone, but nothing seems to work.

Okay figured this out: it was happening if you had your current location set as the default but didn’t give app permission to check location all the time… so I imagine this applied to you. Even if not exactly, the fix is broad enough to hopefully sort your issue out. 2.0.31 is on the way with the proposed fix. Please verify when you’re on it. Thanks, and sorry again.

If I’m right, should add if you care to have your location up-to-date when on the move and not in the app, then please consider giving the app permission to check location all the time. Otherwise, it won’t update in the background.

Hi Bardi, It's a new phone and I was installing the app on it for the first time. It was working fine on my old phone. I've tried clearing the storage and cache, but still no joy.

Sorry about this Simon. You’re the second person to report this which makes me think it’s less isolated than I initially thought. I’m away from computer today, but I’ll try to sort this out urgently tomorrow.
