2.0.20
Hotfix: I’m aware there were issues connecting to Met Office recently. This should be fixed now, and not resurface. On the small chance it does — to Met Office or whoever you’ve set as your default provider — you are now presented with alternative sources to pick from (and are no longer in a limbo state).
I’m delighted to reveal our first new premium weather provider: Met Office, available for Lightning Pro users. This is one I’m especially thrilled to have as I live in the UK. Others are planned with their associated pricing/usage restrictions determining which subscription tier is a minimum requirement.
Improvements
-
One for new users: onboarding has been completely refreshed. Before you’re presented with a paywall, you’ll now hopefully get a really good feel for the app and its differentiating feature set/overall value proposition.
-
When you open the calendar selection sheet, it will auto-scroll to some time in the early morning when you have no time selected. And if you do, it will auto-scroll to the first hour that has a selection.
-
Start of day, sunrise and sunset markers now drawn inside the associated hour’s bar in the Hourly bar chart.
-
If a day’s weather has a shift (morning vs rest of day), then its icon will reflect this.
-
Fog will have a cloudy icon show (as opposed to none — will look at adding a bespoke icon in a future update).
-
You can now long-press on a selected time on the Calendar sheet to name it.
- Column and row header labels should have more emphasis too.
-
Text color associated with rain is now consistently white so the varying scale feels more cohesive.
-
Restore purchases should work more reliably, especially on a fresh install.
- Privacy policy link added besides it on the refreshed paywall.
-
If the forecast for your default provider does not load, you are now presented with alternative sources to pick from.
Fixes
-
You should no longer be spammed with the same severe weather warning notification.
-
When you search for a new location, on the Locations screen you can set it as the default immediately on a right-swipe (previously, if the location is currently selected, this swipe action would be incorrectly disabled).
-
If it’s a rainy weekend, and next week’s condition is not rain, you won’t have references to the rain duplicated in Daily’s summary string.
-
Location should more reliably update in the background. If you feel it’s still not, or there has been a regression even, please get in touch.
-
You shouldn’t incorrectly be labeled as a lifetime user when you’re on a Lightning Pro subscription.
If you’ve got this far, you may be happy to learn I’ve just released another app on Android. I think you’ll like it.
